Morning playoff check-up

Sorry about the blackout last night, but I was really sick and just wanted to get home after the game. Nonetheless, it was a big victory for the Habs as losing that one would have been extremely de-moralizing. Not to harp on it, but Carey Price didn't come up big when he was needed. I understand the tying goal probably bounced twice before it reached him, but when he's on his game he makes that stop. Big win on the road for the Panthers last night, making Saku Koivu's OT winner that much bigger. The Sabres welcome back Ryan Miller against the Leafs tonight, which could spark a charge fom them. The Habs had better be ready Saturday night.

Disagree on the TB 2nd goal. As a general rule I give goalies a break on shots that change direction, especially when they change direction more than once.

Lets let Carey be a star and not harp on is bad plays. He had done a lot of good and the Habs need him to be the best player on the ice to do anything in te playoffs.

Great post breaking down the playoff run!

Carey Price has impregnated a 14 year old. The parents of said child are being kind enough to wait till seasons end before pressing charges.
Seems far fetched... but not completely implausible. (someone please poke holes in this rumor for me... cause I want it to be untrue) He's lost his mojo in the last 2 months. This is no slump... has the boy made the biggest mistake of his still young life?

It sure would have been ugly had the Habbies lost that one after dominating the game. Thanks to Saku's overtime winner this was just another baby step on the path back to respectability.

Sure, it would have been nice to win 3-0 with an empty netter, and there's no doubt that the scare will linger in the players' minds for awhile, but that will fade away - especially if the manage a win on Saturday. The two points they earned, on the other hand, will still be worth the same when the season ends.

If the boys can manage to maintain the level of play they showed last night when they play Buffalo I don't see how a tired Sabres team could compete.

Anonymous, where did you come up with that one? Eklund on hockeybuzz.com?

My issues are with Markov. He kills more Montreal powerplays than the opposition. Poor passes, out of place, always snapping a stick. And he was the first star?

Tanguay's the difference in the team right now.

I got three points:
1. arp - we KNOW you're pro halak - stop harping on THE FRANCHISE. Seriously though halak is an average goalie at best who had an amazing strech ie brain boucher, alex auld, raycroft, JIM carey, ron tugnut, brian puppa, sean burke, ty couklin, pat jablonski... need i go on? If we go anywhere its with price in nets. Plus HE HAS WON BOTH GAMES!
2- Let's leave the speculation about who did what on other blogs ok? the truth will come out and we can talk about it then.
3 - BB I agree tanguay has been great but harping on Markov- really? you do realize that he IS the powerplay right?

k I'm done. sorry I am a little grumpy this am.

bb- you realize we'd be in, at best, 10th right now if it weren't for markov. my issue is still with komisarek.

i'm with arp. i'd like price to look sharper if we're just going to hand him the no. 1 job but i'm glad he's playing well enough to win us games.

pmk- i think you're underestimating halak.

"If the boys can manage to maintain the level of play they showed last night when they play Buffalo I don't see how a tired Sabres team could compete."

they won't be able to : )

B B you once declared about yourself a lack of objectivity when it come to your affair with the CH and maybe you should take yourself seriously once in a while.... if you did you wouldn't waste your time making mute inducing points as the one imbedded in your critism of Markov today..... Markov a poor passer ? Markov at weak link in Montreal's PP ? didn't you know that Markov is THE defenseman leading the NHL in points-passes this year ? Your point about Markov would be akin to say that young Muhamed Ali's deficiency was is clumsy footwork .... absurd.

Good sign for the team! The fans are have discussions about specifics, rather than honing in on the entire team.

I stick by point about Markov. If he is the powerplay, that would explain why Schneider was brought in! In fairness to Markov, I am comparing him to Streit. When Streit was a point on the powerplay, it clicked.

I want everyone in the rouge blanc et bleu to succeed. Markov, O'Bryne, all of them ...and a young Ali had Olympic gold at age 20...
